Organizing team

We are Tallinn University Faculty of Humanities PhD students. The PhD journey can be lonely and challenging, yet it’s not a unique or solitary experience—many of its aspects are shared in different ways by others. For us, discovering the value of sharing perspectives has been pivotal in building our PhD community, which has proven both academically enriching and has made the journey more enjoyable. By organizing this conference and inviting colleagues to join, we hope to extend this shared experience and community spirit, fostering a network that supports a fulfilling and rewarding career path for all involved.

Conference project leader:

Jelizaveta Hristokina is a doctoral student in the field of history at the Institute of Humanities, Tallinn University. For her doctoral dissertation, she focuses on the image of Estonian peasants within the Russian Empire in the latter half of the 19th century and the early 20th century, relying on ethnographic sources. In addition to her academic pursuits, Jelizaveta has been deeply engaged and passionate about advocating for student involvement within the university. She served as the leader of the Humanities Institute Student Union, a role focused on representing students’ rights and organizing community events to boost their university experience. She has also represented students in various university administrative bodies and workshops. Moreover, Jelizaveta was involved in building and establishing the PhD community within the Humanities Institute, making her one of the initiators of the conference idea as well.
